The Law of Birthdays by Brenna Jeaneret 

The Law of Birthdays follows the story of a young girl who goes to the King's birthday party. Because the king loves cake, he makes a law that states that kids who attend birthday parties must eat cake. When a young girl challenges the King’s law, he comes to realize that the ability to have a choice is more important than everyone eating cake. This book emphasizes the idea of making your own decisions and being brave by standing up for your own beliefs. This is a great book to teach children the importance of being themselves as well as the importance of everyone being able to make their own decisions. 

Stories To Be Bold, Brave & Confident by Sophie Potter 

This book is great to have kids read to learn how to deal with hard situations whether it comes to school, family, or friendships. This book follows seven different characters as they each learn to navigate through their own challenges. This book does a great job of emphasizing the ideas of confidence, bravery, decision making, and responsibility. 

What Would You Do?: 46 Situations for Making Good Choices by Jennifer Moore-Mallinos 

This book is great to read for kids of any age. It presents many real life scenarios that can be encountered in everyday life, and emphasizes the importance of decision making, as well as doing the right thing. 

You Are an Amazing Girl. The Adventures of a Fearless Little Girl: A Motivational Collection of Stories About Courage, Self-Belief, and Friendship by Julia Lee Wilson 

Follow the character through all 8 stories of this book as she makes choices that lead her to never give up, create new friendships, and be her true self. This book is great to read with young kids so they can learn more about some of the important parts of life, which include decision making, bravery, honesty, friendship, and more. The stories are very well written and include activities to keep kids engaged. 

The Carousel King and the Space Mission: A Children's STEAM Book About Believing in Yourself by Leticia Ordaz 

This book follows the journey of Maxton as he learns that it’s ok to be afraid and make his own decisions. Although Maxton is afraid, he learns to never give up and conquer his fears. This is a great story to read with kids to emphasize the ideas of resilience, determination, and confidence. This book will keep kids engaged with not only the great story, but also the beautiful illustrations. 

 Different--A Great Thing to Be! by Heather Avis 
This story is about a girl named Macy who is not afraid to be her authentic self. As you read, you will learn all the different things that Macy loves and also makes her unique. This book teaches kids about the importance of being yourself, making your own choices, being kind, and accepting others.
Follow the story of Daniela and Dustin as they create new friendships and learn about different cultures. Daniela and Dustin learn that everyone is different and that everyone should be proud of who they are. This book is a great read to teach kids about the ideas of diversity, acceptance, empathy, and inclusivity. 
 Can I Play Too? (Little Senses) by Samantha Cotterill 
This book shows the friendship between two boys and the ups and downs they go through together. This is a great story to read with kids so they can learn the importance of friendships, compromise, decision making, and kindness.
This story is a great read about a boy who learns to be confident and happy with who he is. This book does a nice job of emphasizing the ideas of self acceptance, confidence, culture, and empowerment.
