Bio:
Children’s author Lana Button grew up in the tiny border town of St. Stephen, New Brunswick. She has a background in theatre performance training at Concordia University and has performed in television, film, and on stage. She also studied early childhood education and has enjoyed working with young children for more than twenty years. As a writer, Lana has contributed to many magazines including Today’s Parent, Parent’s Canada, CHIRP Magazine for Children, and LadyBug Magazine for Children. Lana’s WILLOW picture book series, published by Kids Can Press, highlights how the shyest kid in class gets her through her day. They have been shortlisted for awards including The Blue Spruce, The Shining Willow, and the Rainforest of Reading. Her books have also been recognized as Canadian Children’s Book Centre’s Best Bets and the IBBY Outstanding Book for Young Children. Lana’s latest picture book, MY TEACHER’S NOT HERE! is about surviving school when your teacher is away. Lana loves presenting her stories with energy, enthusiasm and passion. She has had the pleasure of presenting at festivals and community centers from Saskatchewan’s Festival of Words to New Brunswick’s Chocolate Festival. She was honoured to present at the 2018 Rainforest of Reading Festival in St Lucia and went to Northern Alberta as a proud touring author for 2018 TD Canadian Children’s Book Week. In addition to writing and presenting, Lana volunteers for literary organizations such as IBBY Canada, First Book Canada and Rainforest of Reading. Lana lives in Burlington, ON with three grown daughters, one cat, one dog and one travelling husband.
