Pink Tiara Cookies for Three

Is three a crowd when your best friend suddenly makes another friend?

Sami’s perfect life falls apart when the new girl moves in next door. Sami doesn’t need another friend… she has her best friend Stella! Two is the perfect pair and three’s a crowd! Jasmine just wants to be included and play with her new neighbors. But three is a tricky number when it comes to friendships. Most of the time, someone gets left out. Will Sami learn how to adjust and make room for one more friend? Will she see that her lack of inclusion is unkind? Through the lessons illustrated in this book, you can help your child learn what they can do in this type of situation.  The best book for positively confronting “Three’s a Crowd” in friendships, Pink Tiara Cookies for Three by award-winning author Maria Dismondy carries key messages of conflict resolution, jealousy, and inclusion supported by the many advocates of positive parenting solutions. This book is the perfect addition to other books in your collection that focus on resolving conflict in three-way friendships such as the work of Diane Alber (A Little Spot of Kindness) and Trudy Ludwig (The Invisible Boy).  This book comes with a free Reader’s Companion, complete with a classroom poster, discussion questions, and activities to practice being a good friend.

Book Reviews

Chalk Talk Blogger

Through Pink Tiara Cookies for Three, Maria shows children how to keep a best friend and always find room for more. As in her previous books, Maria does a great job connecting with young children, the problems they face, and the way they feel about them. Maria’s books are perfect for building strong character in your students and helping them learn how to cope with the everyday problems they may face with friends and classmates. The language used and story are easy for young children to follow and the illustrations compliment the text and draw the reader in. A must-have for your character traits library.

Teacher Mama

After reading one of Maria’s other books, I couldn’t wait to read this one. Again, being the mom of three boys I was hesitant but I tried it any ways. I believe this is one of the best books I have ever read to my sons. They are best friends but often one of them is left out and their feelings get hurt. How can I teach them that three people can be friends and no one is left out? I have tried and failed many times. This book is about two best friends and the new girl in town who wants to be a friend to them both. How will this friendship triangle ever work? Can three be friends and no one’s feelings get hurt? Maria does it again and teaches us all that one can have many friends and still be a great friend to them all!
