Marketing Hack #11: The Book Launch Team

Marketing for Increasing Exposure Tip #11: The Book Launch Team - cardinalrulepress.com

Today’s marketing tip is a powerful secret I keep in my back pocket that has the opportunity to increase the visibility of your book during its launch and release.

At first when I thought of a team of people to help me release a book, I thought of my family and friends. This group can indeed be included in the launch team, however, they will hold the title of a lower level tier since their audience on social media may not be large in terms of speaking out to your target audience.

Think of the next few tiers of influencers. An influencer is defined as: Individuals who have the power to affect purchase decisions of others because of their (real or perceived) authority, knowledge, position, or relationship. If you want to dig even deeper into learning about influencers and their ability to increase your sales and visibility, check out this article on the Tony Robbins website.

Start connecting with influencers that are speaking and in front of your target market early on. Once you begin putting together your launch team, you will already have built a relationship with those individuals. Ask them to be part of your launch team. What will you GIVE them (usually a free book to review along with a book to give away and some SWAG) and what is it you expect of them during the release of your book?

Going back to different levels or tiers….some influencers I’ve worked with have small social media platforms but are big influencers in real life. I still like to include them in the launch and ask them to share my book in different ways. They may not have a large social media following so I will ask them to email all of their family and friends.

Think about connecting with influencers in your market about 9 months to a year before the release of your book. Start planning your book release 4-6 months prior to the release. This is a good time to ask influencers to commit to your launch team so that they can block off time in their editorial schedule to post a review of your book on their social media during the promotional weeks (s) of your book release.
